Product Description

This New Mexico Elephant is handcrafted and handpainted in a southwestern style by Mary Miller of Whispering Prairies Ceramics in Truth or Consequences, NM. This elephant is 4 1/2" by 4" in size

Miller is a ceramicist and is completely self-taught. "My work isn't done in traditional ways and techniques," said Miller. The artist strives to maintain her own individualism in creating her ceramics. This affords a "visual signature"- while viewing her work, one recognizes the artist even before seeing the signature.  She owns the molds and hand-pours each piece, firing in her own kiln, and meticulously hand painting each ceramic piece individually so no two are exactly alike.

These may be made to your order and may take up to 3 weeks to be crafted.  During the Christmas holiday season wait times are longer as it's more likely Mary will not have one poured and ready for painting and firing.  We will confirm the shipping date after speaking with the artisan when we receive your order.  This is the ONLY place on the internet to purchase handcrafted ceramic goods by Mary Miller of Whispering Prairies Ceramics.  If you want the words "Truth or Consequences, New Mexico" (or a variation thereof) hand-painted on your ceramic, please indicate that in the notes section.  Each piece will be hand-signed by the artisan on the bottom or on a side near the bottom of the item.
