Roadrunner with Pots Handcrafted in USA
This intricate southwestern roadrunner is handcrafted and handpainted TO ORDER by Mary Miller of Whispering Prairies Ceramics in Truth or Consequences, NM. This roadrunner home decor is 6" by 5" in size and each is one of a kind.
Miller is a ceramicist and is completely self-taught. "My work isn't done in traditional ways and techniques," said Miller. The artist strives to maintain her own individualism in creating her ceramics. This affords a "visual signature"- while viewing her work, one recognizes the artist even before seeing the signature. She owns the molds and hand-pours each piece, firing in her own kiln, and meticulously hand painting each ceramic piece individually so no two are exactly alike. Her grandfather was Native American and a traveling ceramicist, so it runs in her family through generations.
Each one of these ceramic roadrunners is hand-poured, fired and hand-painted to order and may, therefore, be slightly different than the one shown. The mold will be the same and the painting will be followed freehand to match significant designs of the one shown. Pots may be painted slightly differently but have the same inherent southwestern Native American theme. Please allow 3 weeks for crafting before shipping. We will give you a more exact shipping date after speaking with artisan Mary Miller. Times after September may be delayed due to high holiday orders.
Each one will be signed by the artisan "Mary Miller" and if you want "Truth or Consequences" and/or "New Mexico" on it, please include that in the notes section! We will confirm with you before placing the order with the artisan.
